The Strange Case of Brooke Greenberg

Here is the astounding case story of a girl, Brooke Greenberg, who lived 20 years but never aged physically beyond a two-year old’s body. The fact that Brooke (and a very few others in the world) lived and existed as a human being in a state of seemingly eternal youth, tells me that aging is a human phenomenon that our species can, and is beginning to, transcend.

She seems to have been functioning with the right brain hemisphere (her intuitive or holistic mind) more than the left. Can it be that that permitted Brooke’s mind to release certain special energies or qualities into her bodily experience which preserved her youthfulness and retarded the human aging process?

The bodies of certain deceased saints, Christian or otherwise, are reported to be incorruptible, being preserved in death to look in the same condition as when they were living. Most mystics are known to retain a quality of youthfulness and freshness glowing through their faces and eyes particularly.

It seems to me that this is the divine destiny of the human race: to evolve and transcend and break free from the limitations of the human condition — to inhabit bodies that are eternally in the glorious prime of youthful maturity, thus reflecting the changelessness and the fullness of life which characterizes their “God-realized awareness.”

We can also speculate that, as enlightened spiritual beings, we are transcending negative and harmful bodily conditions such as diseases. This is clearly the message and example of Brooke’s individual life when she “miraculously” heals from a number of ailments and diseases during her relatively short-lived life, cancer included.

Now, here is the most wonderful news coming from Brooke’s story — the experience of eternal youth, agelessness and perfect well-being is right within our reach NOW. In fact, the fountain of youth is within each and every one of us. We just have to turn its faucet’s spigot in consciousness to let the fountain’s healing waters flow into our experience. That, to me, is the glorious message of Brooke’s amazing life.

I’ve always thought this was true. So how do you ACTUALLY turn it on and let it flow?

    • Thank you for your post, Billy.

Speaking collectively in terms of the human species, the change for improved humanhood is occurring gradually and generationally, as more and more people awaken to the spiritual truth of their innate divinity with every passing generation.

Individually, it is a different story. Spiritual attainment varies from individual to individual. There are no set rules and timetables or hard-and-fast standards for enlightenment. It is totally an intimate one-on-one affair between you and the God-Self of you. The degree and extent to which your human ego-self diminishes is the same degree to which your true Self is correspondingly resurrected within you.

In the experience and teachings of the mystics, there is only one time-tested process for the attainment of spiritual illumination — meditation, mainly through the contemplation of spiritual truths. That is how the Spirit within you is released into your individual experience and made to flow out into your world. You (and you alone) hold the key to determining when the “awakening” comes to your individual awareness. This is the reason why spiritual practice must be attended by the devotional quality of bhakti or “faithfulness” to the Divine. It makes you more receptive and open to the activity of the Spirit within you, and it hastens the “quickening” aspect of the process.

      Peace and wisdom to you.
