Feeling, Not Thinking, Makes It So

Although many of us may think of ourselves as thinking creatures that feel, biologically we are feeling creatures that think.”

New Age teachers have gotten it all wrong, when they say that human beings are thinking creatures that feel. Mind you, there are many of them — authors or speakers who are read, seen or heard, quite well-meaning and well-known.

But it is the other way around: We are FEELING creatures that happen to think, just as we are SPIRITUAL beings having a human experience on this planet. In truth, thoughts do NOT create things, but deep, pure feelings do.

I share the glowing optimism and reassuring enthusiasm of neuroanatomist Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor when she writes:

I am a true believer that the next step in our human evolution is upon us, and we are becoming more balanced in not only how we live inside our own heads but in how we treat our planet.  When we live our lives through the intention of our right minds, and use the skill sets of both minds to achieve our goals, we become a whole-brained and more balanced society. Change is never easy, and there will always be those who fall behind. But overall, I am encouraged by where we are, and the direction we are heading.
Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor

Reading her book and articles and listening to her interviews and talks, I feel ever more “firmly committed to the vision of a global spiritual awakening and the divine promise of humanity’s mystical illumination” (Excerpt from our site The Mystical Path).

YES, Dr. Taylor, yes!

It is feeling that is creative, NOT thinking as other people (particularly motivational, metaphysical, or spiritual teachers) are inclined to believe and promote erroneously. Sadly such a mindset belief perpetuates the sufferings and injustices we see in the world. The sheeple masses are indoctrinated and encouraged to “think thru” their lives instead of “feeling for” the spiritual truth of who and what they are.

Should there be conflict between your feeling and thinking aspects of the mind, you can be sure the feeling level will win over your thinking level. There are, and have always been, many poor people in the world because they cannot realize and feel RIGHTLY — Godly — about themselves. So trapped in the human condition are they by their own spiritual ignorance, that they do not realize the infinite Being and unlimited Self that they truly are. Instead, they permit the world to exploit them and trample on them.

Remember now, the feeling level of the mind is the feminine principle of the mind, the yin, as distinguished from the thinking level which is masculine, the yang. And in the human world, it is the female, the woman, who gives birth to new human life on the earth and not the man.

About Marc of Contemplative Pathways

Marc teaches contemplative meditation in the context of contemporary mysticism. His understanding of the mystical life is rooted in close to 40 years of study, practice, unfoldment, realization and experience, in the course of which he has received the gifts of spiritual discernment and transmission. His teaching work meaningfully shifts consciousness in a student through the process and alchemy of mystical transformation.   Marc facilitates the mystical teachings under the style of Contemplative Pathways. He enables others to embark on the spiritual journey by learning and understanding the Truth teaching and by living its principles. He has been conducting classes and meditation meetings in the San Francisco Bay Area for over fifteen years in a classroom, lecture, workshop, online meeting, or group practice setting.   His methodology of instruction is divinely inspired and firmly rooted in pure authentic mysticism. His approach to the mystical life is essentially nondenominational, nonsectarian, culturally interfaith, spiritually transreligious, and definitively unitive and nondualistic. His other contributions to worldwide spiritual awakening and the global contemplative movement include spiritual mentoring and spiritual healing practice.   Within the context of the great shift in consciousness now occurring all over the planet, Marc’s work presently focuses on individual and collective spiritual transformation and healing. He promotes the practice of contemplation or meditation as the vehicle for transcendence and ascension to the higher dimensions of mystical consciousness.   Marc is firmly committed to the vision of a global spiritual awakening and the divine promise of humanity’s mystical illumination.
