Are you overflowing with the Spirit yet?
We are living at a time of great spiritual awakening and renewal brought about by the “pouring out” of the Spirit on all people. This is facilitated by the many individuals worldwide who are turning increasingly toward a deeper, inner-rooted spirituality, the practice of which produces a profound spiritual transformation in individuals, be it in the lives of the practitioners themselves or in the lives of people around them who are touched.
Scripture says our lives should be overflowing with the grace, goodness, and blessings of the Spirit of God — the promises richly described in the 23rd Psalm. It is the natural result of living an authentic spiritual life that refreshes and restores the human soul to its pristine divine nature.
Like a tiny kitten snugly cuddled up inside the containment of a cup or bowl, our lives are contained in and by the cup of God’s bountiful, singular Being-ness. Our inherent and pre-existing oneness with God assures us of this truth unconditionally. We are limited only by the human beliefs we have consciously or unconsciously accepted and embraced in the course of the human condition and by reason of our human experience of life, our humanhood.
Let your life be filled then with the infinite grace and the perfect good of the Lord. Let yourself overflow freely and endlessly from that cup of infinite Being, in which we live and move and have our being. So, tip your cup through contemplation and meditation. That way, you place yourself in a position whereby you can be filled to overflow.
You are living life by grace when your cup is constantly overflowing with the Spirit of God, not just being full or filled with it. A full cup, you drink to quench and satisfy your own thirst. But an overflowing cup, you can freely share with others.
A life filled with good is one that undoubtedly meets your personal needs sufficiently and comfortably. However, until and unless your life overflows with surplus good, you have nothing from which and with which to share.
